It’s the largest source of entertainment and the most powerful and influential invention in the twentieth century. The amount of violence and advertising seen in the media has posed a lot of controversy, and many studies have made clear that the media is responsible for much of the violence seen in our world we live today. This is due to the fact that the first two years of a child’s life is considered a critical time for brain development. Television and other electronics media can get in the way of a child being able to explore, play, and interact with parents and others, and disable the learning of health, physical, and social development. Two-thirds of infants and toddlers today watch a screen average of two hours a day, and kids under six watch about two hours of screen media a day, primarily TV, videos, and DVD’s.
